Junior Professorship in Social Psychology (W 1)

Tasks:
The position will be integrated into the unit “Social, Environmental, and Economic Psychology” (Prof. Melanie Steffens). We expect research within the social-psychological core topics of the unit (i.e., prejudice, stereotypes, discrimination, social diversity). In addition, cooperation within the faculty of psychology is desirable. Building an internationally visible research program is expected, and so is the acquisition of third-party funds. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in social psychology on the Bachelor and Master level and teaching of students in Education. At first, teaching load will be 4 hours per week per semester.

Professional Requirements:
The candidate should have successfully completed a Diploma or Master degree in psychology, teaching experience including documented pedagogical skills, and should prove scientific achievements, typically by the outstanding quality of the PhD thesis. We expect candidates to have publications in international, high-quality social-psychology journals. Experience with acquiring third-party funding and carrying out funded research projects is welcome. In addition, the requirements detailed in the university law of Rhineland-Palatinate apply: In case the candidate has been employed as a research assistant before or after receiving a PhD, the duration of employment should not exceed six years (excl. maternity leave and parental leave).

Junior professors are appointed as civil servants for three years. In case of positive evaluation, a three-year extension is possible. The federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the University of Koblenz-Landau expect teaching staff to be present at the university regularly.

Women with equal qualification and achievements will be preferred in case of underrepresentation in accordance to national law. Severely challenged candidates with essentially equal qualifications will be given preference.
