Closing date: March 8, 2018

The Department of Psychology at the University of Bordeaux, France, is seeking qualified candidates for a position of permanent Assistant Professor in Experimental Social Psychology-Social Cognition, starting September 2018.

The University of Bordeaux welcomes over 53,000 students and nearly 6,000 staff members. The University is ideally situated in the beautiful downtown of Bordeaux. The city is located at the very heart of Southern Europe, only a few hours from major European capitals and cities, and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List, described as "an outstanding urban and architectural ensemble”. It is located just one hour from the Atlantic Ocean, thus enjoying a mild oceanic climate and rich natural surroundings.

The University of Bordeaux is in the top ten French universities in international rankings. In 2011 the university was selected to be part of the IDEX program (Initiative of Excellence), and is one of only three universities in France to obtain confirmation of this program in 2016.
The position is part of the research group "Social Cognition" that includes 12 members, within the Laboratory of Psychology (close to 30 faculty members). This research program addresses the processes by which individuals construct their perception of the social environment and the behavioral, cognitive and emotional consequences brought about. Teaching will take place within the Department of Psychology, at the Bachelor and Master levels. As most of courses are taught in French, good notions of French and willingness to strengthen them are essential.

The closing date of application submission is 8 March 2018.

Please note that applicants from countries other than France should contact François Ric (francois.ric@u-bordeaux.fr) as soon as possible to discuss the recruitment procedure for foreign academics in France.
