University of Sussex, UK
Application deadline: April 23rd, 2019
We are looking for a post-doctoral Research Fellow to join a large multidisciplinary project investigating quality of life and inequalities in people with dementia and their carers. The post is full time for 2 years starting in July 2019, and will be based at the University of Sussex in Brighton, UK.
This post is part of the 5-year ESRC/NIHR-funded DETERMIND Programme (DETERMinants of quality of life, care and costs, and consequences of INequalities in people with Dementia and their carers), which will recruit 900 people with dementia and their carers in the 3 months following diagnosis and follow them up closely for 3 years. The postholder will work with a team of social and experimental psychologists at Sussex (Dr. Eleanor Miles, Prof. Peter Harris, Prof. Jennifer Rusted) and will focus on the role of social and psychological resources in predicting differences in outcomes. They will also work closely with a PhD student to investigate these processes in a healthy ageing population.
This post would be ideal for a researcher interested in working within an interdisciplinary team to apply psychological knowledge to a problem with real world impact. No previous experience in ageing or dementia is required. Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant area (or be about to obtain one), a research record appropriate to their career stage, and a desire to develop their own independent research ideas, with our support.
