Call for contributions: Data collection for Cognitive Dissonance RRR

25.05.2021, by Tina Keil in announcement

Large-scale Replication Effort of a classic Cognitive Dissonance Study; Data collection begin planed for September 2021

We are seeking additional collaborators to join an ambitious large-scaled replication effort of a classic cognitive dissonance study. The manuscript has received an in-principle acceptance and we are now engaging in the last planned call for contributions before collecting data for this project.

In short, the project consists of a replication of the induced compliance paradigm by means of an essay task. The replication study includes an (optional) online pre-essay attitude assessment and a 30-minute lab study that could be run with multiple participants in the same session. The lab study is mostly run on the computer but also consists of a brief interaction between the experimenter and participant.

We already have 22 countries on board. We specifically welcome the underrepresented part of the globe, like South America, Africa, and Asia, but all labs are welcome to join.

The paper has been in-principle accepted as an RRR in Advances in Methods and Practices in Psychological Science. All contributors will receive an authorship position.

We aim to (ideally) begin data collection in September 2021 but may face some delays due to the COVID pandemic.

You are welcome to indicate your willingness to contribute here http://bit.ly/2D9tDsl, and you can find all the information you need here https://bit.ly/362IlBq. Please spread the word to anyone else that may be interested.
