Call for submissions to special issue: "10 Years of Bias of Crowds – Reflections and Future Directions"

27.05.2026, by Media Account

Letters of intent submission deadline: July 15th, 2026

The Bias of Crowds model (Payne, Vuletich, & Lundberg, 2017) argues that implicit bias may reveal more about situations than about people. This bold reconceptualisation of implicit bias sparked fervent theoretical debates and encouraged psychological scientists to explore novel research designs and research questions.

To mark a decade of research inspired by the Bias of Crowds model, the journal Social Cognition will publish a special issue titled "10 Years of Bias of Crowds – Reflections and Future Directions".

With Keith Payne, Heidi Vuletich, Jimmy Calanchini, and Maximillian Primbs and as co-editors, we welcome theoretical or conceptual work, empirical studies of both geographical and experimental/quasi-experimental nature, perspective pieces that reflect on the model, meta-scientific work that critically examines the Bias of Crowds literature and methodological articles.

Letters of intent are due July 15th, 2026. More information about the special issue and the submission process is available at bit.ly/3R9e8KB
