DEADLINE APPROACHING: EASP Small Group Meeting on “Advancing Intersectional and Multiple Categorization Research in Social Psychology”

We are thrilled to announce the EASP Small Group Meeting on Advancing Intersectional and Multiple Categorization Research in Social Psychology, which will bring together 30 to 40 scholars from diverse backgrounds. This meeting aims to advance the integration of intersectionality into social psychology globally, fostering networking, idea exchange, and collaborative research.
There is no participation fee. Reception, lunch, and dinner will be provided for all three days. Early-career scholars and participants from underrepresented groups or low-income countries may apply for additional funding to cover accommodation and travel costs.
We invite 300-word abstracts (one submission per applicant) in one of the three following formats:
For researchers already applying intersectionality in their work or studying multiple categorization:
1) Talk Proposals – Share findings from intersectional or multiple categorization research projects.
2) Workshop Proposals – Propose a workshop you could lead or co-lead (e.g., applying diverse methods in intersectional research, integrating intersectional perspectives into research practices).
For researchers interested in incorporating intersectionality into their work for the first time:
3) Research Statements – Describe your current research and how it could benefit from intersectional approaches.
Relevant research interests (including but not limited to):
• Multiple social categorization
• Intersectional stereotyping
• Multiple social identities
• Identity conflict and integration
• (Coping with) discrimination and group-based hierarchies
• Multiculturalism, Diversity, and inclusion
• Heteronormativity and the gender/sex binary
• Cross-cultural psychology
• Feminist and critical psychology
