Twenty years since the first empirical papers on dehumanisation were published, we return to the spiritual home of dehumanisation research for an EASP meeting on
Thursday, September 10th, 2020 through Saturday, September 12th, 2020 September 9-11th, 2021, in Tenerife, Spain.
This meeting will address dehumanisation and objectification research since the rise of the MeToo movement, dehumanising social media rhetoric associated with increased nationalism, and populist opinions against immigration. The meeting is open to EASP members and non-members. Registration instructions for the meeting can be found through the meeting webpage, which will be announced mid December 2019. Everyone interested in research related to dehumanisation or objectification is welcome and encouraged to register!
In addition to faculty speakers, several postdocs / advanced grad students will be selected to give 5 minute talks as part of a data blitz. Advanced graduate students and postdocs who study any aspect of dehumanisation or objectification can apply to give a data-blitz or longer talk by completing the online submission form on the meeting webpage.
Finally, the meeting will offer lab-style workshops where researchers can discuss half-baked or well-developed ideas related to theory, methods, measurement, or any other issue related to dehumanisation research. These will take place in small groups of no more than 5 people, allowing for in-depth discussion. If you are interested in presenting an idea in one these workshops, please indicate when you register and provide a one or two sentence description of the topic.
Submissions will be accepted until July 15th, 2020 at 23.59 GMT. Applicants selected to give longer or data-blitz talks will be notified in late-July. Any program questions can be directed to the meeting organisers.
We look forward to see you in Tenerife!
