Biography

I hold a PhD in Social Psychology with a focus on group relations from Ekiti State University, Nigeria. Currently, I am a Research Fellow at North-West University, South Africa. My research centers on how group diversity in multi-ethnic African societies affects national identification, outgroup tolerance, group survival motivation, and intergroup conflicts. Beyond group relations research, I am also interested in social justice and inclusion and wellbeing. My research engagement focuses on understanding how group differences affect social cohesion, aiming to contribute to knowledge for sustainable, peaceful group relations in Nigeria and across Africa. I have received several distinguished academic fellowships, including a postdoctoral fellowship at North-West University, South Africa, and the Georg Forster Fellowship of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany. I am about to conclude a research stay at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany, in January 2025, where I worked on African migrants’ social identification and migration decisions. I applied for the EASP Ambassadorship to further my vision of establishing a research group and developing international research networks. As an EASP Ambassador, I aim to contribute African psychological perspectives to EASP, initiate a research project during my ambassadorship, promote EASP membership within my network, and mentor early career social psychologists in my region.
