Dear EASP Members,
We are pleased to announce the Knowledge Mobilization (KMb) Workshop organized by the EASP Social Impact Team. The workshop will be led by Dr. Travis Sztainert and Kristy Allen.
The workshop is scheduled for May 14th from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM CET.
This workshop will provide participants will improve science dissemination activities by providing a comprehensive understanding of KMb.
Participants will explore foundational KMb concepts, engage with practical methods, and discuss the importance of evidence-informed decision-making.
Particularly the workshop will consist of:
1. Introduction and welcome + Knowledge Mobilization Overview – Definitions, importance, and key concepts (40 minutes)
2. Understanding the Knowledge-to-Action (K2A) Gap – Key examples (Scurvy Story, H. pylori Discovery) (40 minutes)
3. Practical Application – KMb frameworks (Knowledge-to-Action, PARiHS) (50 minutes)
4. Q&A session and closing remarks (20 minutes)

The workshop is reserved for EASP members who are up to date with their membership fees. It is free of charge for all participants.

About the speakers:
Dr. Travis Sztainert, PhD (He/Him) is an accomplished leader in responsible gambling, knowledge mobilization, and research impact. With over a decade of experience spanning academia, non-profit, and government sectors, he excels at translating complex research into actionable strategies that drive meaningful change. As Director of Research and Education at the International Center for Responsible Gaming, Travis oversees research funding, develops education initiatives, and fosters cross-sector collaboration to promote evidence-informed approaches to player health. With a PhD in Psychology from Carleton University and a rich background in knowledge exchange, Travis has taught at both Carleton University and the University of Guelph, co-developed Canada’s first Certificate in Knowledge Mobilization, and continuously advocates for inclusive, stakeholder-engaged research practices. His work is grounded in a deep commitment to bridging the gap between science, policy, and practice.
Kristy Allen (She/Her) is a Knowledge Translation and Implementation Coordinator with the Waypoint Research Institute. She completed her Master’s degree in Public Health with a focus in Social Inequities in Health from Simon Fraser University and holds Honours BA in Psychology and a minor in Family & Child Studies from the University of Guelph. In addition, she has obtained certificates in Knowledge Mobilization from the University of Guelph, in Family Engagement in Research (FER) & Leadership in FER from McMaster University and holds a Level 1 Implementation Support Specialist Certification through the Centre for Implementation. She has previously worked in community engagement and knowledge translation roles with Frayme and the Canadian Mental Health Association- BC Division. Kristy is passionate about knowledge mobilization and community engagement as drivers of implementation and sustainability within research, programs, and services. Through her current role, she advocates for patients and families to be key stakeholders in mental health system transformation.
