June 30th, Krakow, Poland;
Submission deadline: February 28th, 2020
We are inviting you to a one-day preconference on Rethinking and Acting with Refugees: Bridging Science and Social Action, where we aim to problematize the refugee reception crisis.
The preconference will take place on June 30th, 2020 in Krakow, prior to the General Meeting of European Association of Social Psychology (EASP). We will bring together social and political scientists to discuss their research on refugee issues, NGO and network representatives working with refugees to share their experiences, and refugees to share their own perspectives. We aim to highlight the existing work and practices particularly across Europe, the pressing issues for and about refugees, and finally potential solutions in terms of interventions and policy advice. Have a look at the full programme.
The preconference is organized by Yasin Koc (University of Groningen), Sindhuja Sankaran (Jagiellonian University), Joel Anderson (Australian Catholic University), Emanuele Politi (KU Leuven), and Antoine Roblain (Université Libre de Bruxelles).
The program includes keynotes, data blitz talks, interactive discussions, roundtable discussions, and posters. We have keynote talks from Paul Van Lange (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), Eva Green (University of Lausanne), and Jannis Kreienkamp (University of Groningen). We will announce the poster and blitz talks in late March 2020.
Submission and Registration
We will open the submissions for data blitz talks and posters in mid-January and we will accept submissions until 28th February. We will notify the authors by March 9th, 2020 regarding the status of their abstract submission. And we will also open the registration on March 9th, 2020 prioritizing those whose abstract were accepted. If you wish to attend without presenting, complete your registration as soon as it opens, because we have limited spaces available (around 25 attendees).
The registration cost for the preconference is €50. It includes lunch and two coffee breaks. For those coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, we can waive the registration fee. For this, you can directly contact us.
