Call for Submissions: “Social Psychology in the Age of AI” Preconference at the 2026 EASP General Meeting
Date: June 30, 2026
Location: Strasbourg, France
Format: In-person
Background and Scope
Artificial Intelligence (AI) represents the latest technological revolution transforming human society. People can now interact with agents that mimic human thought and communication, and AI is rapidly expanding into nearly every domain of life. With AI often treated as a quasi-social agent, Social Psychology has both the opportunity and the duty to study what motivates people to interact with it, how they perceive it, and the impact it may have on their lives.
This preconference will highlight the essential role of social psychology in the development, integration, and regulation of AI. Through presentations and roundtables, we hope to reveal practical insights from our discipline in how to advance ethical, responsible, and trustworthy AI.
With the first preconference in this topic at EASP, we have designed a participatory forum in which all researchers can make meaningful contributions. Our preconference has no invited speakers, but instead is built on a horizontal principle in which all submissions from everyone are welcomed, across career stages and geographic regions, to complement collective discussion in roundtables. We hope that this preconference will not only allow scholars to share insights and discuss, but to create a new and inclusive community of social psychologists who can bring their expertise to the table.
This preconference will combine two roundtables with two other presentation formats: (1) two Talk Panels (each featuring 15-minute presentations), and (2) two Blitz Panels (each featuring 5-minute presentations). We welcome submissions from researchers studying any aspect of human-AI interactions through the lens of social psychology and related disciplines.
All submissions for Panel or Blitz talks should be submitted here via Qualtrics (https://universityofkent.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1BwcClEaybmGz3w) by January 5, 2025, with the same submission guidelines as for the EASP main conference (Link: https://easp2026strasbourg.com/index.php/submission-registration__trashed/submission-guidelines/). If you have any questions, please contact Marcos Dono (marcos.dono.martin@usc.es), Mengchen Dong (dong@mpib-berlin.mpg.de), and Jim Everett (j.a.c.everett@kent.ac.uk).
