UK Culture and Psychology Conference, June 18-19
02.03.2026, by Media Account
Deadline: March 15, 2026
Title: Indigenous Knowledges from the Majority World
Location: University of Exeter, United Kingdom
Despite the growth of psychological research on culture, our discipline remains largely anchored in narrow Eurocentric paradigms. Efforts toward diversity and inclusion have often been limited to studying select populations or conducting cross-cultural comparisons, without genuinely engaging with local and Indigenous knowledges that can fundamentally reshape psychological theories and practices. This year’s Culture and Psychology conference aims to foster deeper conversations about psychological epistemologies, methods, and concepts emerging from the Majority World. In this meeting, we aim to bring together psychologists working on culture who are interested in engaging in critical discussion on indigenous knowledges and cultures within psychology.
The meeting will be held on 18-19 June 2026 at the University of Exeter. There is no participation fee. The first day of the conference (Thursday, 18th of June), we will have a workshop and a sandpit for early-career researchers. Keynotes, paper and poster presentations will be held on the second day (Friday, 19th of June). Early-career scholars who wish to attend the workshop and sandpit on the first day should indicate this in the application form.
Hybrid participation will be enabled for participants who are unable to join the meeting in person; however, please note that hybrid participation will be limited and available only for sessions in formats that allow for that on the second day of the meeting.
Type of submissions:
1) Paper submission (12-minute)
2) Blitz submission (5-minute)
3) Poster submission (please note that we have a limited quota for posters)
4) Contribution without paper (You don't have to present a paper/research. You can simply attend and enrich the discussion. Please note that you should still fill out the application form)
Submission deadline is March 15: https://exe.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5gMfZvrC8MrSwJM
