It is with extreme sadness that we share the news that Claude Flament, Professor of Psychology at the University of Provence and Director of Studies at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Mathematical Psycho-Sociology passed away on April 4th, 2019 at the age of 89.

Claude Flament was a leading figure of social representation theory and well known for the development of mathematical models for studying the structure of social representations. Not only did he play an important role in the foundation of the European Association of Social Psychology, he also served on the Executive Committee of the EASP (1969-1972) under the presidency of Henry Tajfel, and later as its President from 1972 to 1974.

He was interviewed by the former Secretary Xenia Chryssochoou for the European Bulletin of Social Psychology (EBSP) in 2009. The interview is available for download below.
