Positions at the Australian National University
26.03.2024, by Tegan Cruwys
3 early career roles for social psychs available in Canberra, Australia
The first role (3 years) is to work on an ARC Discovery Project called "Thwarted Identity: The missing link between prejudice and psychopathology" (Tegan Cruwys, Michael Platow, Cath Haslam and Alex Haslam). Broadly speaking, this project will re-examine the link between prejudice and mental health from a social identity perspective. This would best suit a recent or soon-to-be PhD grad in social psychology with experience applying social identity theorising to intergroup relations, prejudice, or mental health.

The second role (continuing contingent funded for a minimum of 18 months) is to work with Tegan Cruwys on an NHMRC Investigator Project called "Unlocking the social cure: Innovations in basic and translational science of the social determinants of mental health". This project is focused on social cure research broadly construed and would best suit a recent or soon-to-be PhD grad in social, clinical, or health psychology who has expertise in social identity theorising in the context of mental health.

Finally, we also expect to have a third role available (12 months fixed term commencing late July 2024) on a government partnership project (Tegan Cruwys and Kate Reynolds). This may be appointed from a merit list from the advertisements above if suitable candidates are identified. This role would ideally suit someone with expertise in social/structural approaches to wellbeing and/or research partnerships.
