Postdoctoral Position on Changes in Colonial Cultural Heritage in Europe

The Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra is offering a fixed-term full time position (100%) to start on May 2024 or as soon as possible afterwards until February 2027, within the project coordinated by the University of Coimbra CONCILIARE - Confidently Changing Colonial Heritage (Grant Agreement n.º 101132582), financed by European Commission, HORIZON-CL2-2023-HERITAGE-01-04: Cultural heritage in transformation – facing change with confidence, in the following conditions:
- PhD and research carried out in the fields of social psychology, history, political science, sociology, anthropology, and other related areas.
- Proficiency in English.
- Doctoral degree obtained in the 3 years prior to the date of submission of the application.
- Doctoral degree not obtained in the University of Coimbra.
- The fellowship holder does not exceed, with the conclusion of the fellowship an accumulated period of three years in this type of fellowship, consecutive or interpolated.

CONCILIARE aims to research changes in colonial cultural heritage in Europe across four domains: textbooks, public spaces, museums, and products and traditions. The aim is to develop evidence-based methods that promote confidence and intergroup dialogue related to these changes.
The activities to be carried out include:
(i) Implementation of the scientific tasks foreseen in the project, namely within the scope of CONCILAIRE Work package 1 (School textbooks: on the changing representations of colonialism in school textbooks and the reactions they provoke in people from different ethnic groups and generations):
- literature review;
- document analysis;
- carrying out empirical studies, including data collection and analysis using qualitative and quantitative methods;
- drafting progress reports;
- presenting communications and writing scientific articles.
ii) Support for the tasks foreseen in the Work package 6 (coordination and management) and in Work package 5 related to dissemination.
