Dear colleagues,

We are excited to announce the EASP Small Group Meeting on the role of dignity, face, and honour cultural logics in intrapersonal, interpersonal, and intergroup processes!

The distinction between cultural logics of dignity, honour, and face (DHF) is relatively new, but is being increasingly used to understand cultural differences in a variety of psychological processes spanning intrapersonal, interpersonal and intergroup domains. We aim to bring together researchers to discuss (1) the conceptualization, measurement, and prevalence of DHF logics across cultures, (2) country- and individual-level correlates and behavioural consequences of these cultural logics, and (3) potential limitations and critiques of the DHF framework and future directions this field of research can move into.

The meeting will be held in Pescara, a beautiful seaside city at the Adriatic cost of Italy with a local airport directly connected to several major European cities. Pescara is also in easy reach by bus or train from Rome. The meeting will be held between 17-19 April 2024 with the first two days devoted to presentations and the last half a day to discussions on the future of research on dignity, face, and honour cultural logics.

We invite submissions for oral presentations from researchers at all levels (postgraduate, early-career, senior) and all regions of the world in psychology and adjacent fields who study DHF cultural logics in relation to intrapersonal, interpersonal and intergroup processes. Please use the following link to submit two abstracts by November 10, 2023: one max. 300-word abstract for the programme and one 800-word abstract to be used for review purposes (https://tinyurl.com/y3kr8zec). Please also indicate any financial support you might need to make your attendance possible. We aim to finalize decisions on submissions by the end of November 2023 to allow time for visa applications for attendees residing outside of Europe. We will carefully review submissions with a goal to achieve desirable diversity and balance among the topics and attendees.

This meeting is generously sponsored by EASP and the School of Psychology at the University of Sussex, which allows us not to charge any registration fee and to cover lunches and dinners during the meeting. We will also offer a limited number of travel/visa bursaries to those who need assistance to have their costs covered.

For any questions you might have, feel free to contact Ayse K. Uskul (a.k.uskul@sussex.ac.uk).

Feel free to share the call with interested colleagues. We very much look forward to receiving your abstract submissions.
