Please respond by 15 March, 2024

We are seeking volunteer judges in a variety of disciplines to help evaluate award applications for the International Society for Research on Emotion 2024 ISRE Dissertation Award.

The International Society for Research on Emotion is excited to announce the 2024 ISRE Dissertation Award. This award will recognize the scholarship of a recent PhD graduate (PhD awarded since 2022 inclusive) at the next Biennial ISRE Meeting in Belfast from July 17 to July 20 2024. The recipient of this award will receive a monetary prize of 500 euros, as well as the opportunity to write a short summary of their dissertation for the Emotion Researcher newsletter, which is sent to all ISRE members.

Dissertations must be relevant to the field of emotion, broadly defined, and can come from all disciplines affiliated with ISRE, including affective computing, anthropology, art and design, education, history, linguistics, neuroscience, philosophy, psychology and sociology.

We are seeking volunteer judges in a variety of disciplines to help evaluate award applications. The judging will take place in two phases: 1) Evaluation of 1000-word dissertation summaries submitted by the applicant, and 2) Evaluation of up to 3 full dissertations by the three finalists selected in the first phase.

ISRE is committed to serve as a conduit for young researchers to showcase their work, so we hope that senior researchers can put their expertise at the service of this important award. Please complete this very brief survey (2-5min) to indicate your interest in serving as a judge for either phase and the number of reviews you may be willing to complete:

Please complete the above survey by March 15th. We do not anticipate that each judge will read more than a handful of submissions and we will tailor reviews to those matching your areas of expertise. We anticipate that reviewers will have approximately 4 weeks to complete each phase, with Phase 1 evaluations due May 1st and Phase 2 evaluations due June 10th.

The ISRE Board is delighted to offer this opportunity and greatly appreciates your generosity in supporting this effort.

On behalf of the ISRE Board,

Eric Walle and Andrea Scarantino
