EASP – European Association of Social Psychology

Join the Latino-European Social Psychological Research Network focused on Migration, Displacement and Inclusion (La-EU-MiDI)

11.02.2022, by Media Account in announcement

This is an invitation to join a new project sponsored by the Research Knowledge Transfer Scheme funding from the European Association of Social Psychology (EASP).

Join us in the Latino-European Social Psychological Research Network focused on Migration, Displacement and Inclusion (La-EU-MiDI). The network is open to ALL EASP members irrespective of nationality or region!

This is a new network of scholars and practitioners from around the world, and we proceed by identifying small groups which will meet, and then come together in final virtual conference in August 2022. In addition, an online repository of expertise on the Social Psychology of Migration, Displacement and Inclusion – in theory and practice, will accompany the meetings and conference.

There is much knowledge and experience to be exchanged between Latin America, in particular, and the rest of the world, especially EASP based psychologists, academic and other non-academic stakeholders. Human migration, displacement and the inclusion of newcomers in host societies is a global challenge, and there is a gap in the dialogue between academic social psychological researchers and practitioners/organizations working in the field with migrants, refugees and/or asylum seekers. Therefore, LaEUMiDI is an inter-sectoral and inter-continental network facilitating exchanges of social psychological research knowledge and the expertise and needs of practitioners working in the fields of migration, displacement and inclusion.

La-EU-MiDI is hosted in the Migration & Diversity Research Lab (Department of Psychology, University of Limerick, Ireland), under the supervision of Dr. Anca Minescu, and in collaboration with several researchers from Latin America and Europe, from the Erasmus Mundus Global-MINDS Master in Psychology of Global Mobility, Inclusion and Diversity in Societies.

We invite you to join us and make this happen! We put together a very short survey with the sub-theme groups for the initial small group conversations. It takes 1-2 minutes to click a few boxes that reflect your interest to join us.

Please feel free to circulate to others interested in joining our trans-Atlantic academics-practitioners network of knowledge exchange. Do not hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions at laeumidi@ul.ie or at Anca.Minescu@ul.ie

Looking forward to hearing from you and venturing together in this innovative knowledge exchange network,

LA-EU-MiDI Team

Dr. Anca Minescu, Dr. Pablo DeTezanos-Pinto, Dr. Maria Chayinska, Leticia Scheidt, Beatriz Gómez Moreno, Diana Lizarazo, Tainara Paulon Protásio, Manoela Lucena, Barbara Guahyba.
